Character Values of the Short Story Sixteen Colors of Sincerity and Their Relevance to the Profile of Pancasila Students
Abstract
The rapid development of technology and the flow of information are often not accompanied by the readiness of society to filter the values that enter. This study aims to describe the character values in the short story Enam Belas Warna Keikhlasan by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, and describe the relevance of character values to the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research data are the results of sentence quotations containing character values in the collection of short stories Sixteen Colors of Sincerity and their relevance. The data source of this research is a collection of short stories of Enam Belas Warna Keikhlasan by Habiburrahman El Shirazy and documents related to the Pancasila Student Profile. Data collection techniques are literature study, analytical reading, systematic recording. The sample technique used in this research is purposive sample. Data validity uses triangulation of sources and methods. Data analysis uses content analysis techniques and dialectical analysis techniques with a literary sociology approach. The technique is used to reveal the relationship between elements of literary works and reality through repeated examination of literary texts. The results showed that 1) seven short stories in the collection of Sixteen Colors of Sincerity contain character values, namely religious values, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, democratic, curiosity, national spirit, love for the country, respect for achievement, friendly/communicative, peace-loving, love to read, care for the environment, social care, and responsibility, 2) Character values in seven short stories are relevant to the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile which lies in the dimensions of faith and devotion to God Almighty and noble character, global diversity, independence, mutual cooperation, critical and creative reasoning.
